Why Digital Marketing?

In the 21st century, we humans are closer than ever. Just a phone call from Australia is enough to tell family members living in London that “our child just graduated college!. Here, these are some photos from his graduation day, also, there is a complete write up on him by his college available online”. This is precisely what you would say to your family, isn’t it? And just like that, your business needs digital marketing as well.

Confused? Well, don't be! Your business is your child, and just like you’d market his graduation to your close ones -- as your business grows, expands, and achieves greater success, you'd want to communicate that to your customers as well. That is digital marketing.

2019 has sharply seen the increase in the number of smartphone users globally. However, smartphones alone aren't on the rise. Software applications, social media applications, websites, forums, chatrooms, and internet subscription is on the rise as well. Do you know what is not on the rise however? Print media, television, and other forms of traditional media sources.

There are some sources that are pointing towards the increase in newspaper sales in India. But in all honesty, the audience that you are mostly seeking to tap into, doesn’t dwell in those mediums anymore. They have moved on, they have evolved, they are the millennials and beyond, they are always online.

If you are looking to tap into this set of audience, then digital marketing is a better option. I wouldn’t say that digital marketing alone can do the trick, I’d rather always go for the blended approach where digital marketing is seamlessly blended with traditional marketing. However, this is called strategic product placement and is subject for another topic.
Digital marketing is important more than ever. Clients, potential business associates, and project owners are all online, if your business isn’t, it is losing out on an audience share that is always connected.
When you finally do understand the importance of digital marketing, in all honesty once again, you are going to feel intimidated. But hold on, trust in what is being said and don’t be worried! You are a business owner; your role is to ensure your business invests in and makes the right business connections.
Understand what Digital Marketing is, don’t stress if you don’t get it right the first time.
If you’re keen on learning the art for yourself, be ready to undertake a learning curve/path that is long, sometimes confusing, and involves a lot of data analysis, but the result will leave you with more power than you had ever imagined.
If you ever find yourself asking the question:
Why Digital Marketing?
Our recommendation would be to start answering that question with another question directed towards yourself:

Where do I make all my purchase decisions?
If your retrospective question yields an answer that points towards even one decision being made by you because someone, something, some video, or some ad convinced you to do so, you have the answer, you know now exactly why digital marketing. You could be that someone or some ad that convinces people to purchase, buy, or rent your products and services.
Digital marketing is about tracking what works, what doesn’t, and investing sensibly. It is about optimizing your limited resources for maximum output, it is about joining a league of smart business people who do not believe in mindlessly blowing precious resources on traditional marketing channels, it is about blending the two channels at a midway point that will yield more results than ever before.
As a business, it is never bad or wrong to ask questions. Afterall, that is the nature of business, it starts with asking relevant questions. It ends with a reasonable answer. Without having legitimate questions to fuel your pursuit, there is a thin chance of your business making it big. So I’d ask you to go ahead and ask yourself this question---why digital marketing?
